SCENT DETECTION

The course consists of theoretical and practical knowledge modules. Their scope is adjusted to a client’s needs. The course includes following topics:

  • Selection of dogs for olfactory work
  • Odour theory 
  • Passive indication in olfactory work
  • Training planning and maintenance of training records 
  • Systematics of scent detection work 
  • Conscious placement of scent samples 
  • Detection protocols 
  • Detection patterns, straight lines 
  • Detecting objects in a line, in interior and exterior structures, and vehicles 
  • Conditional learning of new scents placed on a scent carousel and in a line 
  • Transferring new scents into environmental work and new contexts 
  • Motivation of dogs in olfactory work 
  • Storage and treatment of scent samples, scent contamination 
  • Stress in dogs' work 
  • False indications and strategies to prevent and deal with them 
  • Reward techniques in olfactory work 
  • Basic functional obedience in canine olfactory work 
  • Remote scent detection – managing a dog in olfactory work
  • Troubleshooting - diagnosing and solving problems in canine olfactory work

DEFENCE DOGS

  • training of decoys: 
  • creating exercises and training plans for decoys 
  • lecture on the role of a decoy in a dog training 
  • creating training plans (physical, capacity and agility exercises, regeneration)
  • training of working dog handlers: 
  • obedience 
  • creating training plans 
  • building a bond between a dog and a handler

supplementation of working dogs

  • training of combat and patrol dogs: 

- developing training techniques, rising awareness, motivation, confidence, courage and control, 

- development of training plans (physical, capacity and agility exercises, regeneration)

- use of combat dogs in various environments (urban areas, forests, water) with the decoy

  • working on a sleeve and in full biting costume
  • Courses, theoretical and practical activities addressing the following aspects:
  • Safety during simulated defence exercises
  • Selection of working dogs
  • Working with different equipment and fetch commands
  • Types and techniques of using equipment to build foundations of defence
  • Working on a sleeve and full biting costume
  • Types and techniques of equipment used in defensive training
  • Decoy training for working and sport purposes
  • Elements of muzzled and unmuzzled dog work
  • Use of protective overlays hidden under civilian clothing

TACTICAL INTEGRATION OF THE DOG INTO A COMBAT TEAM

  • Tactical obedience
  • Adaptation of a dog to loud noises (shots, explosions)
  • Task oriented tracking inside buildings
  • Work on unstable surfaces and adaptation to moving on unconventional means of transport (boats, quads etc.)
